Mandala Vinyasa Through the Elements – Air

Instructor: Catarina Ferreira
Date: Sunday 11th June 2017
Time: 15.00-17.00
Studio: Brixton Studio

Join us for a 2 hour session of Mandala Vinyasa led by Catarina Ferreira, where we explore the element of Air.

Based on the elements of Fire, Water, Earth and Air, Mandala Vinyasa connects each element with a specific area of the body, integrating the spiral patterns that nature uses and exploring circular movements with our bodies, moving 360º around the mat.

On a physical level, we will flow and move with the breath, working on backbends, opening up the shoulders and quads. Energetically we will be activating Anahata Chakra, related with our social identity and self love, finding space in our hearts.

The practice will start and end with a Yin Practice so we prepare and “close” the areas of the body that will be working on.

Catarina is trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Rocket Yoga, Yin Yoga and Mandala Vinyasa with The Yoga People.

JULY & AUGUST WORKSHOPS

SPECIAL EVENT:

Gong Bath Sound Healing Workshop

Instructor: Leo Cosendai
Date: Sunday 30th July 2017
Time: 19.00-20.30
Studio: Brixton Studio

Join Leo for an evening of deep relaxation and sound healing at More Yoga Brixton!!!

A gong bath, or gong meditation, is a holistic practice which is designed, just like yoga, to help one burn up their emotional history and karmic blockages. The gong can lead to altered state of consciousness, which can be anything from a simple yet powerful deep delta sleep, to one of the early stages of ‘samadhi’ (a state of intense concentration achieved through meditation.)

From a physical point of view, a gong “bath” as we call it, is ideal for clearing nerve-endings and for re-establishing a healthy relationship between the parasympathetic (ruled by sound) and sympathetic nervous system (ruled by vision). Just like the tones it produces, the experience it induces is different every time.

Leo is a Prana Kriya Yoga teacher and a Gong bath facilitator based in London. He has trained with Yogi Ashokananda and learned the way of the Gong with Don Conreaux. He leads the international retreats and teaches at Indaba, The Life Centre and Triyoga. A blissful and healing experience that is not to be missed !!!

Rocket Yoga Fundamentals – Beginners Inversions

Instructor: Chloe Chourrout
Date: Saturday 5th August 2017
Time: 14.00-16.00
Studio: Finsbury Park Studio

Rocket Yoga is the rebel child of ashtanga yoga. Its founder Larry Schultz was a student of Pattabhi Jois and adapted the sequence of the primary and second series of ashtanga. He created a fun, playful type of yoga, with an emphasis on inversions and transitions. This may seem daunting to someone who has just started their yoga journey, but the beauty of this practice is that it is all inclusive. Everyone is welcome, even complete beginners.

Chloe likes to emphasise this aspect of rocket yoga, by giving variations and modifications for all levels, creating a safe and supportive space wherestudents can explore poses and try things out.

This workshop is all about foundations and grounding before you learn to fly. We will start with sun salutations and flow through the standing series to warm up the body, then add some playtime to explore the following poses: headstand (salamba sirsasana), forearm stand (pincha mayurasana) and backbends (urdvha danurasana). As a student you will gain individual advice on each pose and adaptions for your practice. Everyone will come out with something to work on and bring back into their routine classes.
